The World’s Highest Altitude Bike Rack
A New Zealand man has gained international fame by strapping Mountain Bikes under the wings of his plane. Legend…
Want proof that our Kiwi cousins love their Mountain Biking? Meet Mit Brerton. He’s a 27 year old Kiwi adventure pilot who had a novel solution to the age old question “How do I fit Mountain Bikes onto my 53 year old 6 seater Cessna plane”.
The answer? Hire an engineering company to install bike racks under both wings. He posted a couple of pics to his company’s Facebook Page that have since gone viral.
“I came up with the idea,” he told the NZ Herald.
I’m sure you did Mr. Brerton – and we applaud you for it.
“The bikes are a bit big and bulky and they are difficult to carry. It’s only a six-seater and by the time you get five or six people in the plane there’s not a lot of room for the bikes.”
Hence – the conversion. Pure genius. Apparently he runs flights to the Heaphy Track on the South Island’s West Coast during the MTB season.
If you want to join the wonderful world of Mountain Biking – check out Bicycle SA’s Dirty Weekend – taking place on the first weekend of May this year. Quite easily the most social MTB event in South Australia.
