Toll Gate Road Closure

The Crafers bikeway between the Toll Gate and Mount Osmond will be closed until 25 April from the 9am-4pm.

We’ve received quite a few emails enquiring about the closure of the Adelaide to Crafers Bikeway. We’ve since followed up with the Department of Transport & Infrastructure who’ve let us know that until April 25, the base of the Eagle climb is closed from the Tollgate to Mt Osmond Rd.

DPTI official Facebook Page for all things cycling related has the following info:

“Work is well underway to repair the crib wall on the Crafers Bikeway between the Toll Gate and Mount Osmond interchange – this photo from site shows why this section of path needs to be closed to riders and made safe.

Please be patient and obey path closure signage. Workers and controllers are undertaking tasks to keep you safe.

The Crafers Bikeway is closed between the Toll Gate and Mt Osmond Interchange from 9am-4pm, Monday-Friday until Tuesday 25 April. You can access the top half of the bikeway from Mt Osmond Rd, or plan to access the hills via another route. Please remember that cycling is prohibited on the Freeway.

We understand the inconvenience and appreciate your patience”

We’ve put together some alternate route suggestions for those still keen to get up in the hills on unsealed roads or sealed roads.

I appreciate the maintenance and the need for safety whilst the work is being undertaken but it was rideable last night (~ 8.00pm) and maybe generally rideable outside of work hours. There were no hazards (other than signage). Signage at the very top (bollards) would be useful so that people are not faced with a sudden roadblock – could BSA request this from DoTI please?

Thanks David. We’ll share this with DPTI.
