World Bicycle Day – Sunday 3 June 2018
World Bicycle Day
On April 12, 2018, at the 72nd Session of the United Nations General Assembly, all 193 Member States (including the Commonwealth of Australia) adopted a resolution to have the United Nations designate a day to celebrate and promote bicycle use around the world.
Bicycle SA are extremely proud to see this happen, not only because we were a part of the international lobbying coalition but because of what it will mean in supporting our work to get more South Australians cycling.
World Bicycle Day Community Ride
To commemorate and celebrate the occasion, Bike SA is hosting a FREE World Bicycle Day community ride.
Where: Victoria Park Grandstand, riding to Elder Park
When: Sunday 3 June, 0830 for 0930 ride start
Duration: Approx. 30 minutes
We expect participants from the diverse ride groups we have here in SA, including penny farthings, eco-caddy, trishaw as well as a mix of the vast commuter and road biking community with riders ranging from young to old. Bike SA have invited local schools to lead the ride. BISA are turning up with their tweed group, so there will be something for everyone.
Occasions like this are a real reminder to governments – local and state – that investing in and encouraging more people to ride, is a great thing for our community.
This ride will be a short but a prominent celebration for all of us that love to ride.
