Meet Sharlene – Gear Up Girl Ride Ambassador

Meet Sharlene Harding. Sharlene will be our Ride Ambassador for 2018. She has been nominated by Margaret Boylan, our resident Gear Up Girl trainer and mentor who has supported this event for many years.

Sharlene started riding in 2015, yes that’s right just 3 years ago. She turned up at Cycling Australia’s She Rides confidence course run by Margaret at First Principles Coaching with her old bike, a big smile and a positive attitude. This was the start of a very exciting relationship between Marg and Sharlene and the beginning of Sharlene’s love for cycling.

Since then Sharlene has gone on to ride in lots of Bike SA cycling events and has also completed the Clare Classic, competed in the Revolve24 team event and has now signed up to ride the Revolve24 SOLO. It’s amazing how far we can you can go on two wheels!

Sharlene is also a bike education Instructor, teaches swimming and since starting out with Margaret, now has her cycle coaching certificate and works as the Assistant Coach with Margaret for She Rides programs. Both ladies are also active members or the Skinny Lattes Cycling Group.

With all she has achieved in such a short time, Sharlene has shown that you can achieve lots on a bike with determination and work in building your skills and fitness as a cyclist. Sharlene will be a great contributor to our Gear Up Girl event.

Stay tuned for more information on preparing for your ride. In the meantime, gather your girlfriends, your Mum, your sister, and your work colleagues and sign up for the biggest girls day out in SA

Did we mention the ride concludes with a complimentary glass of Coriole Vineyard’s bubbles?
